Due to the style and blue marking on the bottom of each of the pair, I strongly believe they originated from Germany no later than the first quarter of the 20th century. I am unsure as to the factory of origin. They evidently were part of a series of figurines representing each month of a calendar year. Dressed in peasant attire, each seems to depict activities normally performed during the month they represented. Each figurine stands just under 4 inches tall. As pictured, each has some damage especially in area of the hands. The figurine representing Martius (March) appears to be carrying an object in each hand of which parts have broken off in the past. The April figurine has some damage in his extended open hand. I will also mention some slight wear in the decoration, albeit not severe. Both figurines are sold together in one lot at auction. Please view all pictures as they are considered part of the description. Please check back to my listings often as I will be posting numerous fine examples of glass, pottery and porcelain in the near future. Thank you.
