ORIGINAL APPLE RECORDS 7 ½ IPS 4-TRACK STEREO 7″ REEL TAPE MASTERED AND DUPLICATED BY AMPEX FACTORY SEALED COPY PAUL McCARTNEY ~ McCARTNEY (1970) ORIGINAL BLUE BOX WITH THE AMPEX LOGO AND “ELK GROVE VILLAGE, ILLINOIS, U.S.A.” ADDRESS ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Up for auction is the extremely rare original 1 st edition prerecorded 4-Track 7½ IPS Stereo reel-to-reel tape of Paul McCartney’s debut self-titled “McCartney” album released by Apple Records on April 17, 1970. It’s incredibly hard to find this issue at an auction, but finding it in a factory sealed Mint condition is practically impossible. The heyday of prerecorded reel-to-reel tapes was the mid-1960s. The format was oriented towards well-heeled audiophiles as the retail prices of reel tapes were significantly higher than those of LPs. But this wasn’t the only circumstance that attracted audiophiles. Prerecorded reel-to-reel tapes, especially the ones recorded with the 7 ½ IPS speed, had the superior sound quality compared to the other formats. The speed of 7 ½ IPS that was used for recording these consumer tapes was already considered professional. This original tape was mastered and quality audited by AMPEX, one of the leading companies in audio tape technology, on Ampex professional recorders using Ampex tape. Original “Printed in U.S.A.” blue cardboard box the “L 3363” catalog number on the back and spine. The back side of the box also contains the AMPEX logo and the “Elk Grove Village, Illinois, U.S.A.” address . Among our currently listed items, you can also find this album in another format, a factory sealed Mint copy of the 1 st pressing LP record. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We don’t accept bids from the accounts created during the auction or the ones created by the blocked bidders.
